Pair of Large Antique Japanese Satsuma porcelain lamp bases. Stunning pair of large Japanese Satsuma vases dating from the Early 20th Century which were professionally converted to lamps about 15 years ago & have been in storage ever since. They are painted and enameled with Samurai warriors. The painting is extremely well executed. The gilding is well preserved. Condition: The overall condition is good. The surfaces of the lamps are covered in a craquelure glaze. There are a few marks and scratches to the surfaces commensurate with their age. One of the lamps has some nibbles at the edge of the base (see photo) which are not obvious as it stands on the antiqued brass platform. The lamps have been professionally wired and have 2 metre long antique gold coloured cables. They are offered without shades. 42 cm high to lampshade rings. 17 cm diameter at their widest point. 12 cm square bronze bases. 2.8 kg weight each lamp (total of 5.6 kg).
