A Fine Japanese Satsuma Bowl

A finely decorated Japanese Satsuma bowl, illustrating a story from Japanese folklore. The story is of the Heian poet, Yasumasa playing his flute by moonlight, subduing the bandit Yasusuke with his music. Signed to the base with a Shimazu Mon. This bowl is in excellent condition.
