An early 20th century Satsuma pottery vase. It has a light biscuit colour glaze and this has darkened crazing adding to the aged look. It is hand painted with wisteria style pendulous flowers cascading down the body. The body shape is baluster in form with a slightly rolled out rim. The short neck is decorated with a repeating formal pattern.
There is a hand painted mark to the base, the right side appearing to read Satsuma, and the left a shortened form of Satsuma koku san. All over aged crazing, minor wear. Height: 22 cm (8 5/8 inch) Width: 11.8cm (4 5/8 inch) Weight: 724 grams (before packing) Stock Code: 1491 NV18-2.
