Type: Lidded Jar Material: Ceramic Pottery Age: Meiji Period (1868 - 1912). In the style of Satsuma ware. Unmarked, but Makuzu's early works were in the style of Satsuma ware and often unmarked. I've identified a different.

In addition, this jar contains many of his common design features (for example, the golden clouds, the pattern around the base and outside of the lid, the form of the foot and base, and his vivid glazes). Small hairline crack to upper rim. Original to manufacture hairline cracks to base. Some wear to painted design.

Subject: Decorated with finely painted and brilliantly glazed Satsuma style designs of the sixteen rakan arhats, the highest disciples of the Buddha. They are joined by a white tiger, birds, blue green ShiShi Foo Lion, dragons, deer, rabbits, ducks, attendants, pine trees, and flowers.

My auctions typically start and end on Sunday. My nearby Post Office recently shortened their hours, so I'm now only making two or three Post Office visits each week. The size of the box I use will usually need to account for the size of the item, plus 2" to 4" in each direction for packaging. The size of the box usually doesn't affect the price much, unless if dimensions start going over 12 within California it doesn't matter much - bulk away! How much the package weighs. Note that for small items most of this weight will be due to packaging material. To estimate the package weight, I typically take the weight of the item and then double or triple it.
