Antique Japanese Meiji Period Miniature Satsuma Vase with Rakan & Handles c1900
A miniature Japanese Satsuma Ware vase dating to the late Meiji period c1900. It has two gilt finished handles which are modelled as dragons.

The body is painted with Rakan and a scene with women and children indoors, there is also a Samurai around the neck. To the base it is marked in kanji'Satsuma' beneath the Shimazu clan crest. Minor gilt wear with some losses of the gilt at the rim. The crazing on Satsuma ware is intentional. Width: 5.8 cm (2 1/4 inch).

Height: 8.5 cm (3 3/8 inch). Weight: 76 grams (before packing).
