ANTIQUE JAPANESE POTTERY SATSUMA GINGER JAR SCHOLARS IN GARDEN NO Lid

Good quality Japanese Meiji period pottery ginger jar. Two painted scenes of scholars? The two scenes in a vignette painted surround. The base and collar with a band of intricate decoration. The bands covered with fine gilt outlining. One scene showing gentleman sitting in chair being attended to by a retainer. A man samurai, he has a sword. Kneeling is offering a tray of food? The other scene has gentleman sitting on bench attended two retainers.

One holding a bowl and the other kneeling fanning possibly a cauldron on a small stove. The fine gilding is all present. There is raised enamel colours in the bands and vignette surround.

Pottery all over even fine crazing. Inner diameter lid 6.2cm. Please inspect the photographs closely to assess the condition of this ginger jar. The photographs form part of the description.
