THE EXTERIOR OF THE BOWL IS UNUSUALLY DECORATED WITH A HEAVILY GILDED FLORAL DESIGN SURROUNDING THE BOWL ON A DEEP COBALT BLUE BACKGROUND WITH A DECORATIVE GOLD BAND BELOW THE FLORAL DESIGN. MEASURES 2 1/2" HIGH AND 6 1/8" IN DIAMETER. WEIGHS JUST UNDER 1 POUND.
THE CONDITION IS EXCELLENT WITH NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR REPAIRS. THE ENAMELED DESIGN IS HEAVILY APPLIED, THE COLORS ARE CRISP AND THERE IS NO WEAR TO THE ENAMELING. BOWL IS MARKED WITH THE SHIMAZU FAMILY CREST. SATSUMA POTTERY IS A YELLOWISH EARTHENWARE USUALLY DECORATED WITH DETAILED JAPANESE FIGURES WITH EXPRESSIVE FACIAL FEATURES, LANDSCAPES AND OFTEN FURTHER EMBELLISHED WITH DRAGONS IN RELIEF.
