Antique, Japanese Satsuma Vase, Signed, 30,5 cm / 12 Inch

Antique, Japanese Satsuma Vase, Signed, 30,5 cm / 12 Inch. A beautiful Satsuma vase, with a gold gild decoration and hallmarked. 30,5 cm / 12 Inch, diameter is approx. 15,5 cm / 6.1 Inch and weight is 971 gr / 2.14 lb. We quote Satsuma ware (, Satsuma-yaki) is a type of Japanese pottery originally from Satsuma Province, southern Kyushu.

Today, it can be divided into two distinct categories: the original plain dark clay early Satsuma (, Ko-Satsuma) made in Satsuma from around 1600, and the elaborately decorated export Satsuma (, Kyo-Satsuma) pieces which began to be produced in the nineteenth century in various Japanese cities. By adapting their gilded polychromatic enamel overglaze designs to appeal to the tastes of western consumers, manufacturers of the latter made Satsuma ware one of the most recognized and profitable export products of Japan for centuries, and even became one of the key sources of funding for the Meiji period reforms. Pre-owned, in a very good antique condition.

One of the vases has two minor scratches on the side (last photo). Item will always be in an extra safe box. We make every effort to provide accurate and honest information about our listings. Thanks for looking, please check out all our other listings and have a wonderful day.
