This is a Japanese Satsuma Vase from the Meiji Period. Vase with a dragon on top of the lid and then on each side, almost like handles on the vase.
The bottom that looks like chips are actually the design of the piece (although there one small chip along that base). It is in beautiful condition! The colors are bright and vibrant yet. There is very little crazing on the pottery. The paint has a 3d effect of dragons on it and it's still strong and stable. They have been packed away inside smaller totes on top of long threads of cotton rope. It is 13 3/4 in height with the lid on.The lid standing alone is 4.75" of the vase, making the vase without lid about 9". Vase opening is 4 in diameter, and the vase itself is 8 inches across at it's widest and tapers down to 2.25 inches at its smallest, which is the bottom inside of the piece. I have 2 other listings in this same style if you are interested in this type of artwork. Smoke free, pet friendly home.
There may be a variation in color due to camera lighting. I try to be as specific to colors in the listings as possible. If it is in original packaging, it must not be opened.
PLEASE ask any questions you may have about the size or fit of a garment. I always take pictures of the tags and include them. I measure what most areas of contention are for different sizes, but if you have further questions please ask as each garment may fit you differently.
