Antique Miniature Japanese SATSUMA 3.5 Scenic Vase, Meiji Period

This listing is for a lovely miniature Japanese Satsuma scenic vase, c. The upper body of the vase is decorated with a scene that includes a pagoda with a river/lake on one side and a gilt decorated landscape on the other side with mountains in the background. The lower body of the vase is decorated with assorted butterflies. Measures 3 1/2" high with a 1 1/8" top and an overall width of 4. This nice vase is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. The is some faint roughness on the upper rim as made with minor wear to the gilded rim. The vase does have faint crazing which is very common with Satsuma ware. Satsuma is a creamy earthenware that is often decorated with scenes or flowers in th design.

This ware was generally created for the export market of the mid-19th Century to cater to Western markets. We at Antiques & Moore.
