Absolutely beautiful Satsuma style biscuit pot, it's really nice, would love to keep it, but I would have a house full of lovely things, and no food LOL. A nicely hand decorated Japanese Satsuma style biscuit or cookie pot with metal handle and lid. Thought to be from the first half of the 20th century it has a profusion of decorative elements including birds, flora and fauna. The pot is marked with a series of marks. If you read from the top and right to left, the first two lines appear to say "DAI NIPPON SATSUMA YAKI" (Great Japan Satsuma Fired), while the third line is not clear it is thought to say "TAMAKA ZO" (Made by Tamaka).
The top symbol may be the "SHIMAZU" family crest, common on Satsuma wares. This would make an interesting accessory or gift. 7"W × 7"D × 8H.
