Japanese Antique Rare Satsuma Marked'Kusube' Earthenware. This is an earlier work from the Meiji period by Sennosuke Kusube with fine handpainted artistry and rich raised enamel multiccolors and fine gold. Showing his craftsmanship and style for the late 19th C.
At the height of export ware Satsuma age. The central scene inside bowl is ornate with crackled glaze and intricate handpainted decor depicting East Asian culture. One figure appears to be a noble woman with features and traditional attire and hairstyle of a Chinese Beauty holding a fan, with two children or attendants nearby.
Surrounding them are delicate floral designs. The rim of the bowl features a scalloped edge with a decorative golden border that incorporates embellishments and rich enamel colors.
3 golden border and simple decorated border at the lower exterior adds to the fine craftsmanship. Fine crackling glaze is seen all throught the piece. The exterior of the bowl showcases 2 scenes: the first is of a large avian, Phoenix likely detailed with feather patterns in gold, green, blue and brown which is a significant symbol of East Asian art.
The second is of a vibrant blue dragon surrounding with floral motif with ornate gold accents. Throughout enhancing the luxurious appearance of the bowl.
