Superb Quality Japanese Satsuma Pair of Mirrored Large Vases by one of the most sort after Japanese Meiji artists - RYUUN FUZAN. The scenes are of Bijin at leisure in a typical Japanese Landscape. The vases are Ovoid form with everted rims.

Ryuun Fuzan was one of the best of all the Japanese Ceramic artists. Based in Kyoto he was active from the mid to the end of the Meiji Period and start of the Taisho period. His work varies a great deal in style but very often is decorated panels, often on a blue ground.

This one is very unusual for the Artist as the Diapers of the top of the vases are flowers and motifs of Seigaiha and Asa no ha combined and the sides use Kame style decoration. The gold band decoration is also extremely elaborate at the base of the rims using a crosshatch pattern which is extremely difficult to achieve. All in all a very accomplished pair of Mirrored Vases by a renowned Artist and valuable because of this. Both vases are signed by the Artist. Dimensions: Height: 25cm (10") Height 5 cm (2").
