From the Meiji period (1868 - 1912). The box has black lacquer ground and the lid is decorated with a kneeling figure in gilt and polychrome enamels.
There is a gold mark in a red cartouche to the base. Measures 6cm in diameter and 2.5cm tall. No chips, cracks or restoration; there is fine age-related crazing and wear to the black lacquer around the rim of the lid. Please see all photos for confirmation of condition.
