Superb Pair of Satsuma bowls of the Late Meiji period by BIZAN. The lobed bowl shows Japanese stylised scenes of Bamboo by a mountain scene and mountain home. The work is of the very high quality and much of the decoration is highlighted in gold gilding. They are of a lovely colour. The exterior of the bowl shows a continuation of the interior scene.
Like many Japanese pairs of vases or bowls of this period the bowls are not identical but rather a compliment to each other. A lovely addition to any Satsuma Collection. Unusual to find a pair which adds to the value. Dimensions: Diameter just under 12cm (Just under 5") and depth 5cm (2").The bowls are in a very good condition.
