Late Meiji Period Japanese Satsuma Vases - Urashima Taro Riding The Sea Dragon. A beautiful pair of Japanese Satsuma vases, dating from the late Meiji period it depicts I believe Urashima Taro riding the tail of the sea dragon whilst looking into a mirror, the front deities I know nothing about as stories vary so much depending on which version is read and how they are translated.
The jars are rare and unusual as the scene on each jar is identical, they can be viewed either from the front or back to see the same scene - the dragon over the ocean carrying three deities, condition is good with only light wear, sizes are 220 mm, 8.5 tall.
