Koro style with unusual stylised ring handles and a domed lid and lotus-bud finial; hand-painted decoration of story-telling scenes with gilt accents; side panels painted with dramatic scenes - Samurai archer protecting a princess geisha hiding by a large tree. The other side panel has a sword-weilding Samurai hiding by a tree attacking a nobleman seated next to a scared princess - both are alarmed by the attacker. Condition: two spot of glued broken chips repaired to opening rim otherwise just minor age tight hairlines no other damages all in good condition. Size: 27cm high up to the handles (excluded the lid); with lid is 34.5cm high; 16cm top opening diameter; 13cm base diameter, 12cm lid diameter and 25cm wide across both handles Weight: 2310 grams unpacked.
