Mirror Pair of Japanese Satsuma Shizan Meiji/Taisho Period Baluster Vases. Scenes of Temples, Mountains, Giesha and flowers. All in vibrant colours with gilding. The base carries the Shimazu family mark, Shisan/Shizan marks from the Meiji early Taisho period.

This is straight from an estate sale and new to the market. In very good condition, lovely gilding and beautiful hand decoration. There is no damage or restoration, but there is age crazing which is common on 100 year old pottery. These examples measure 9 3/4" (25cm) high by 4 1/2" (12cm) in diameter.
