REVERSE WITH ELDERS WITH HALOS AND MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS. THE VASES ARE FURTHER DECORATED WITH AN INTRICATE PATTERN BETWEEN THE MEDALLIONS AND ON UPPER AND LOWER BODY. MEASURE 4.5" HIGH WITH A TOP DIAMETER OF 1", BASE DIAMETER OF 1 3/8" AND THE MAXIMUM WIDTH IS 2 1/4". THE CONDITION IS EXCELLENT WITH NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR REPAIRS. THE ENAMELING AND GILDING ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. EACH IS SIGNED WITH HAND PAINTED UNIDENTIFIED CALIGRAPHY MARK ON BASE WITH "MON" MARK. SATSUMA IS A CREAMY EARTHENWARE USUALLY DECORATED WITH JAPANESE FIGURES WITH EXPRESSIVE FACIAL FEATURES. THIS WARE WAS GENERALLY CREATED FOR THE EXPORT MARKET OF THE MID-19th CENTURY THRU THE TURN OF THE 20th CENTURY TO CATER TO WESTERN MARKETS.
