Pair of Vintage Japanese Satsuma Pottery Vases Made in Japan. These probably dating to around the 2nd world war are in excellent condition and have been sat in an empty house since they were new hence the fantastic condition. The only flaw I can see is some small loss of the gold paint in places where it appears to be slightly rubbed. Nice clear marks on both bases and a symbol of the hope of better things to come after the war.

They stand very well together with a lovely stippled and painted finish. Rare to find a matching pair. They both have a double cartouche with Japanese characters on each vase with intricate floral detail and gold detailing all over. H36.5cm W20cm base13cm rim 7.5cms.
