Satsuma Charger -SUPERB QUALITY -Samurai warriors- Attr. Hozan -Meiji 13.5D

Superb and dramatic Satsuma Charger, almost certainly by the hand of Hozan the dish is not signed but the style is as good as a signature. The unusually for Hozan this dish is in the true Imperial Satsuma Moriage style with a great deal of fine work in raised Aochiba, Kame and other overglaze raised enamelling. This has been done in slip clay and then applied to the body by firing.

This is a part of a collection of similar Imperial Satsuma chargers which will be offered in the coming period. I have tried to highlight this decoration in the photos. Not sure I did it very successfully.
