Satsuma Vase by KINKOZAN. Superb Quality- Very Unusual- Very Rare Shape/Design
Magnificent Japanese Satsuma Hexagonal pottery vase of very rare form and colour by the most famous of all Satsuma producing companies, KINKOZAN. Impressive size 31.5cm (12) tall. The vase is on a hand blown turquoise background with a beautiful stylistic raised gold gilded decoration of Birds on a prunus blossom stem. The piece is one of the most stunning and stylish Kinkozan vases that I have seen. This is very much the forerunner of the Aesthetic taste in the West.
I believe the vase dates from the late 19th Century Meiji Period, the Kinkozan V period. Kinkozan was the premier and most important of the Satsuma kilns and retailers using the most famous of all the ceramic artists artists from the Edo to the Taisho Period.
The piece is clearly signed. Kinkozan heavily exported from 1875, especially to America and was by far the largest producer of Satsuma export products. Vase Height: 31.5cm (12). Please look at my other listings.
Item will be extremely well packed.
