Unusual Matching PAIR of Antique C20th Japanese Satsuma Earthenware Knot Vases. Unusual matching pair of antique earthenware pottery Japanese baluster'knot' vases, likely early 19th century Taisho period (possibly slightly later).
Very brightly and beautifully decorated in iron reds, raised white enamels and gilt features on a classic satsuma cream base. There is a raised decorative knot decoration to each side of each vase and each have a lovely fluted neck with wide rim. Lovely statement pieces of a good size. Each is clearly marked to the base.
The vases are in very good condition but one vase has a very small (and unusual) barely noticeable pin hole (see pic 10). Each vase is 32cm high, about 15cm wide and each weighs almost 1kg.
